All the VW's have now completed their 2011 Wedding Season and are now hibernating awaiting a well earned break. Both the Campers will be pampered over the winter 2011-2012 seeing any little marks or bleamishes on their bodywork touched up and the interiors spruced up to a prestine condition ready for the Wedding fayre season to start in late January 2012.
So why do we stop using our vehicles through the winter?
Winters over the past few years have become very unpredictable and with the snow and ice that fall around the Vale of Glamorgan countryside, outside the VW Barn it is near impossible to get the vehicles onto main roads through wintery scences.
We take pride in the perfect condition of the VW which are all rust free and immaculate. The heavy amounts of salt used on the british roads is also another contributing factor into why the vehicles stay indoors. Salt speeds up the chances of the vehicles rusting as it corrodes the metal under the vehicles, although they are wax-oiled to help prevent any rust throughout the year.
Snow has increased its appearance through January and February each year. Even in the smallest amount of snow there is a chance of black ice which puts our passengers at risk. We take the care of our passengers very seriously and will not even chance risking an incident that may be detrimental to our passengers safety. At the first signs of snow, the vehicles will not step foot out of the barn. This has caused a few last minute change of vehicle for our Brides/Grooms to our 4 x 4 2011 Audi, which is disheartening for those who have wanted a VW camper at their Wedding, although we have then suprised the affected couples with a vintage summer champagne picnic to make up for the swap!!! So to stop any last minute disappointments we decided to finish our season at the end of November each year and restart in March the following year.
Ice or Black ice is not good for any vehicle but without power assisted steering, our vehicles are hard to control in this situation and the likely hood of them being seriously damaged is very high. The cost of getting the vehicles repaired (if at all possible after a serious accident) is enourmous and the timescale to get the VW's repaired is sometimes longer than possible for the next booked Wedding causing disapointment all round.
Through winter, these vehicles are cold as they have poor heating facilities, although we have a luxury snug to wrap the Bride & Groom, in the driver unfortunately freezes to the steering wheel whilst driving.!!!
There are many VW Camper companies out there that offer their vehicles all year......Good luck to you as we like to put our passengers safety first and the condition of our vehicles as immaculate as possible without compromising over making a few extra ££££'s which may end up costing much more and possible a priceless irreplaceble life.
Happy Christmas to all and we look forward to keeping you updated on the VW's throughout winter and 2012
