Watching the sunset from the top of Llantrisant Hill tonight has made me feel very sad.....the winter day seems to come and go so quickly and before you know it you are submerged into a dark winter night. Winter is so bitter sweet as it brings some quiet days which I wish to disappear so quickly as I long for the Wedding season to start and the long Summer days to arrive. However, Winter is the only time that we spend with our family and do so many lovely things together but that is all over so quickly and the dry crisp winter days are so scarce that they are cherished dearly where possible.
Today has again been a quick visit to the barn to check the wiring on "Cariad" our 1978 VW Beetle with the kids in tow on their skates and scooters. Then a family walk to the "Billy Wynt" which gives a 360 degree panoramic view of everywhere. You can see the Severn Estuary, Millenium Stadium, Llantrisant Common and beyond, The Rhonnda Valleys and Bridgend on a clear day like today and the ancient monument that stands on the hill elevates you so you feel so isolated watching the world below go about their business unaware of your existence.
Days like this are so important to us as soon the Wedding season will take presidence and the weekends are spent juggling the kids between family members and ourselves so that we can try and cover nearly 80% of the Weddings as a family before bring staff in to help out unless neccessary.
I do not begrudge the Summer season as we thrive on it as it gives us a rush when we turn up to "ooooohs" and "aaahhs" from guests and photographers alike.....but we do miss out on a normal family life that others live for at that time of the year, family outings on the weekend, BBQ's and parties are just not possible. We are like passing ships come every weekend. hence why these days are bitter sweet to us as a family, longing for the Summer but missing the family winters. I love my family so much and time just seems to disappear before your eyes......cherish every moment you can as, just like winter days, time with your family is so short.
